A quirky hotel in Austria - Kleinsasserhof

by Ute Johanna

Carinthia, the Southern-most county of Austria, is unarguably one of the most beautiful parts of Austria with mellow mountain ranges, crystal-clear lakes and lush nature. It is however not exactly renowned for progress, style and trend and it is like a breath of fresh air to find a quirky hotel-restaurant like The Kleinsasserhof among the mostly traditional alpine or lake resorts.

The Kleinsasserhof is a place for the escapist who wants to leave behind the stress and problems of every day life and wants to relax in an eccentric oasis between art objects, bric-a-brac from all over the world, secluded corners, wonderful nature and excellent and organic Austrian home-style cooking with produce made directly at the farm attached to the small hotel or supplied from surrounding farms.

You can spend your days in the lying in the sun at their biotope swimming pool, go for hikes, read in front of the open fire, chat to the lovely owners Josef and Waldtraud and their kids, share a bottle of Austrian wine with the other guests or enjoy the sauna or a treatment by the wonderful masseuse Helga.

This little hotel is a hidden gem and if you don't find your inner peace there, I don't know where you would.

Each of the 16 rooms is styled in a different way. Depending on the season, price for a double room including half board range from 150-185 Euros.
